Ray Havert, a local businessman in South Orange County, saw a need among his neighbors and decided to make a difference. He founded SCO in 1989 to fight to end hunger and homelessness in Orange County. Joining forces with a number of local volunteers, Ray conducted food drives and opened a small food cupboard that grew into a larger food program to assist families and seniors in need. Today, Ray’s vision of “Love thy neighbor” continues through the continued work of South County Outreach today.
